Making social media simple for writers, authors and other bookish people

Social media can be noisy, over-whelming, and feel like one thing too many in an already busy life.

You want to focus on your work, not scroll endlessly in an online video game that can never be completed.

The thing is, you also know that social media is arguably the best way to reach the people who are going to love your work, before telling all their (real-life AND online) friends how brilliant it is.

But how do you do it? The whole concept makes you feel twitchy. You’re not a salesperson and don’t want to be one either.

Well, first of all, being a salesperson is the quickest way to bore everyone you know (including yourself) and send them running for the hills.

Instead, treat what you’re doing like an adventure worth sharing. For example, think about:

  • your writing process

  • the reality of trying to get an agent and secure a book deal

  • the ups and downs of publishing your work

  • bits and bobs of your life

  • what drove you write this book alongside the many other responsibilities you have in life?

These things are not boring to the people you want to attract.

The aim of your social media presence is to build relationships with these people.

You’re trying to find people who are geeks about the same things you are. You’re not spamming them - you’re inviting them to come and walk alongside you.

If you’re still thinking, ok, this sounds interesting, but HOW? then that is where I come in.

My approach to social media marketing is community-first and I specialise in growing and engaging online communities. Get it right and these are the people who will support you by engaging in your work, paying for your work, and most importantly, they will tell all their friends about it.

Work with me to:

  • discover an approach to your social media that is practical, realistic, and creative while being respectful of life’s many other demands

  • troubleshoot any potential barriers to your success

  • coach you on how to build a community who will want to buy, read and recommend your work

  • demystify the process of using social media to turn strangers into community members

  • develop creative, compelling content to keep your work at the front of your target audience’s mind.

How can I help?
